For more than 20 years Lynn Drury has honed her singing and songwriting skills in New Orleans. Originally from Mississippi, she’s got one foot firmly planted in her country roots and the other ducking into dive bars and music clubs across town. Dreamy and stark, Lynn’s distinct voice has been heard across the country and in Europe as well. Her music and melodies get in your head and under your skin - sultry hot funky and funny, they stick to you and with you like a long night out. She calls her music Nolamericana, and there’s a little bit of something for everyone in her catchy tunes.

Drury takes listeners down a familiar path, dancing, laughing while crying and reflecting on times and places and people that you want to know, and you already do on her ninth album “Dancin’ In The Kitchen.” It consists of 10 original tracks recorded over the summer of 2018 and 2019. It features Ric Robertson producing and recording 4 of the tracks at his home studio in New Orleans. The other 6 tracks were recorded at Rick Nelson's Marigny Studios with Jacque DeLatour(Maria Muldaur) engineering. Guest artists include Rurik Nunan (Cracker) Chris Adkins (George Porter, Jr.) Sam Fribush (Charlie Hunter) Michael Girardot (Revivalists) along with her long standing band, Rene Coman (Iguanas) Alex Mallet & Chris Pylant. The title track features Ric Robertson playing all instruments except for Lynn and her guitar.

Good 04:11
I don't wanna go down like driftwood swayin' I don't wanna go down pushing that barge and steel I don't wanna go down I just want to dance with a rhythm I just wanna know how it feels And it's gonna be good gonna be good it's gonna be good it's gonna be good As much as I feel with your arms around me as much as i feel like I wanna drown as much as I want to tell you all the things that I'm thinking and still have you right by my side And it's gonna be good gonna be good it's gonna be good it's gonna be good when I finally let go Oh it's gonna be good You wanna drag me down kickin' and screamin' you wanna drag me down choking on the words of love And it don't mean much it's just the ebb and flow of what you're saying and the pull from the moon above And it's gonna be good gonna be good it's gonna be good it's gonna be good And it's gonna be good gonna be good it's gonna be good when i finally let go oh it's gonna be good

I used to fall in love a lot now i just fall apart i used to break a lot of hearts now I don't even wanna start I used to run around I used to stay out all night while you was running me down said i just wasn't your type well Whoa they saw me coming yeah they saw me coming yeah they saw me coming! Wherever you go don't you worry 'bout me I'll be playing that rock and roll with a funky little beat I'll be dancin' in the kitchen I'll be stirring something up All that time that you was wishin' that you could call me up and you can Whoa I come'a runnin' yeah I come'a runnin' you can yeah I come'a runnin' you can yeah! I might wake up tomorrow and you'll be gone but i can't worry 'bout that now while i'm singing this song I'll be dancin' in the kitchen I'll be stirring something up All that time that you was wishin' you could call me up and you can whoa i come' a runnin' you can yeah I come 'a runnin' whoa I come a' runnin' you can yeah I come'a runnin' you can

Safe Space 04:14
Mary can't stay, he always chomping at the bit little present he gave to her she's not holding on to it it's just a walk in the park like the links in the chain what separates the art from a low-down dirty shame I just want to be a safe space I'll be a safe space where we can go I'll be a safe space where we can go where we can be How did i get here? What have I done? How do we get past the idea of only right and wrong? It's just a walk in the park like the bricks in the road there's not a lot that separates us but a heavy heavy load I just want to be a safe space I'll be a safe space where we can go I'll be a safe space where we can go where we can be Stitches and the train tracks may follow me home you can't lock me out I've got chains of my own You can't keep a ray of light from creeping in your room you can't fix a lie from shining down on the truth I'm not invisible anymore I've found a safe space you can't touch you can't see oh! I just want to be a safe space I'll be a safe space where we can go I'll be a safe space where we can go where we can be (repeat chorus)

St. Tammany 03:59
All the way from St. Tammany Beatin' your drums for captivity but you would not take the good from me you can watch me watch me break free you can watch me watch me break free Mama died when I was just a little girl Daddy's still a prisoner of time Uncle's going in again, yeah when sister went down for ten I became a mother of two Steady, steady and true But I am more than what you see what you've been taught to believe Yes I am just a woman breaking free Oh you just watch me you can watch me you can watch me break free you can watch me you can watch me break free I'm gonna hold my babies tight tonight Give 'em all the love that i know is right even though their mama's gone I'll hold them tight just like a drum steady, strong steady and strong But I am more than what you see what you've been taught to believe Yes I am just a woman breaking free Oh you just watch me you can watch me you can watch me break free you can watch me you can watch me break free you can watch me you can watch me break free you can watch me you can watch me break free

Good Stuff 03:52
You act just like all the men i've known before it don't matter who long as you're not alone cue that "love" thing, survival at all costs with a pocket compass while you plot your course Well I want it too the good things I need it too the good stuff You almost had me there, busted ain't no need to make it clear, i get the gist of it when you're feeling downhearted when you need a soft place to fall but you don't need no direction if all you do is fall But i want it too the good things I need it too the good stuff When I'm feeling downhearted when I need a soft place to fall When you've taken all you can and you can't find no comfort or a friend, I got your back baby When you're feeling downhearted I'm a good one to call 'Cause you know it don't mean nothing, nothing at all Oh but I want it too the good things I need it too the good stuff When I'm feeling downhearted when I need a soft place to fall Oh I want it too the good things I need it too the good stuff When I'm feeling downhearted when I need a soft place to fall

There's a sucker born every minute baby lay your troubles down lose your mind wring your hands cozy up to all my friends but you will never see me cry How do you lose a friend? How do you choose who to love in the end? I guess i never was the type for stickin' 'round I'll make it easy on you I hope you learn from my mistakes but it looks like you're well on your way to lovin' em all and leavin' the rest And i have learned from the best you will earn everything that you get You want to mess with me well baby there's just one catch You want to play with fire well baby i've got a match How do you lose a friend how do you lose a friend how do you lose a friend I'll tell you how How do you how do you lose a friend How do you how do you lose a friend There's a sucker born every minute

I like to stay out all night I like to watch the night fall down to it's knees, beggin' Don't take me out to the daylight sleep tight you know I'm not that kind of girl in my own world But I ain't beggin' the night fall to it's knees I ain't beggin' the wind flow through the trees and I ain't scared when I've got no company I just need some time to get back on my feet I walk the night with pirates promise me you won't take my soul it's gold, but buried beneath this deep dark secret everybody knows you can't keep But I ain't beggin' the night fall to it's knees I ain't beggin' the wind flow through the trees and I ain't scared when I've got no company I just need some time to get back on my feet Come to me my darlin' let me fix what ails, I might fail but i'm trying to bridge this sea between us but everybody knows I'm gonna burn But I ain't beggin' the night fall to it's knees I ain't beggin' the wind flow through the trees and I ain't scared when I've got no company I just need some time to get back on my feet Oh i just need some time to get back on my feet

Home 03:44
My home is always moving, my face against the sun waving in the wind 'neath the belly of a gun My home is just a target weighs heavy on my back No human can afford this wasteland Hope is like a light buried deep beneath the sea shimmering in darkness but one day the world shall see Home is always moving through the tops of trees Another resolution and they'll chop us to our knees This land is your land but was it always so waiting for the savior to let my people go Hope is just a diamond a sparkle in the sand This "problem" speaks my lips I do not understand why home is always moving home is always moving home is always moving I dreamed this land would rise up out of it's cave hands like mountains shielding us from all the pain and swallowing the evil men and the promises they've made my dreams are just the cries on the unwritten page fierce like lions guarding all good and then the ground breaks open where your children's children stood Home is always moving across the borderline Fierce like lions waiting for our time Home is always moving across the borderline Fierce like lions waiting for our time Our time Hope is like a light buried deep beneath the sea shimmering in darkness but one day the world shall see

On the hook for the line that you cross every time is it better than being alone? If you worry all the time that the feeling's running out is it better than being alone Is it better than being alone when the wait's too much or the way too long Is it better than being without when i wake up late ain't nobody there to shout well you had to buy the ring 'fore you lost everything is it better than being alone? there's a play that i like but it comes with a price reliving the times gone wrong yeah when push comes to shove and nobody's making love is it better than being alone? Is it better than being alone when the weight's too much or the wait too long Is it better than being without when i wake up late ain't nobody there to shout if you worry all the time and you can't make up your mind is it better than being alone? yeah the old folks used to say it'd happen this a way and you'll settle for being alone
